[Packaging & Bundle]
The packaging is made up of a mostly black theme. From the front side we’re shown a clear shot of the product, surrounded by fire. Close up shots of the product on the sides, and main features mentioned on the reverse.
EasySMX details the products specifications on the backside, in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. Something not mention is the additional weights, which we’ll cover
Inside the box, the mouse is housed in a solid plastic insert.
EasySMX offer a user manual, software disc, and thank you note with QR codes to their site.
A cool addition, is the selection of weights inside a plastic container.
[A Closer Look]
We shall start our tour of the EasySMX with a view from the backside. The product is made up of multiple material types and colours. The edging strips are finished in a high gloss black. The grip portions are more like a dull grey, and the rest of the mouse is rubberized in matte black. All of this is complimented with silver buttons. A logical combo that will surely appeal to a wider audience
From a top-down view, we find the mouse is completely symmetrical in shape, and therefore should please both left and right-hand users equally.
Above shows the default setup and what each button does, however, you can customise it with the included software. The scroll wheel is extremely thin and offers a low resistance feel.
It’s worth mentioning that any custom setting is saved to your PC and not into any internal memory, so if you plan to use the product on more than one computer, you’ll need the software installed on both!
DPI is changed with the simple press on the centre column. Each profile is identified with its own colour
Increasing weight is achieved simply by opening the small drawer and adding what you desire.
The grips on either side are extremely pleasant to use, the inverted print offers fantastic grip and comfort. On the left side you have back and forward buttons, nothing on the rightside of the mouse.
Looking at the underside of the mouse, we find the gaming sensor with a maximum DPI of 8200.
Something that we’ve yet to mention is the 1.5m cable, which is braided The braid is quite stiff and should not tangle…
[Testing and Final thoughts]
We perform all our testing on a OcUK Mega Mat XXL Elite Tactical Gaming Surface ( available here )
We don’t have a predefined list of games for our testing. As time has passed, new releases are often thrown into the mix, but more often than not old schoolers like Unreal tournament, and CS: GO are at the centre of the testing.
I never jump into a gaming on day one of our mice reviews, as I feel it fair to allow for the transition period. We’ve all been there with say a new keyboard, you spend the entire day mashing all the wrong keys, activating lights and such. Mice have a similar and distinct transition period. My daily driver is the Steelseries Kinzu V2. A small, ambidextrous and no-nonsense mouse.
The EasySMX Gaming mouse has been a pleasure to work with. The real stand out point is the shape, so many mice are catered for right-hand users only. My home has two users who are left-handed, so this is a real bonus. Grip and comfort again, I only have good things to say, the balance is near perfect. The coating on the majority of the mouse is very pleasant, even after a very long session.
The button layout is very well thought out, and reaching all was easy and practical. The actual clickers are very quiet. The two additional buttons on the left clicker, are almost silent. The DPI selector is the exception, it’s very loud and noticeable. For me that’s actually a positive feature, it allows a clear indication that the press has taken place. Realistically you won’t be switching DPI constantly, but I thought it worth mentioning anyway.
Out of the box, the weight was just right for me, I did experiment with the extras and can certainly see the appeal. It will be user and surface dependent, the amount of options they supply is very impressive. Being able to tweak the weight in small steps, rather than significant jumps is a clever move. The tray system is snug and secure too.
The EasySMX mouse is an excellent product. Visually it’s perfect, comfort is great too for both left and right-hand users. Extra buttons don’t always produce a better mouse, on occasion reaching these buttons is difficult. This product is one of the few that work, and being able to customize them is great. The weight system is a nice addition and all this for such a great price?
If you have a budget of 30 pounds or so, this should certainly be on your short list to consider
We would like to thank EasySMX for providing the sample, and we look forward to seeing more from them, in the near future!
